The area by the eastern coast of the Adriatic sea all the way to the highest peaks of Velebit, Vaganski vrh (1757 m) and Sveta gora (1753 m), covering 96 km², abounds in numerous natural special features and phenomena, which is why the whole area was declared a national park in 1949.
This space is a unique and exceptional touch between the sea and the mountain, rich in beech and black pine woods, deep canyons cut vertically into the main ridge of Velebit, karst shapes and unique karst reliefs with many caves and pits.
